Before May 2009, Kukatpally got 8 MGD drinking water out of the sactioned 20 MGD. Because of our efforts, the capacity increased to 14 MGD
Krishna 3rd phase Project is the salvation for drinking water problem in Hyderabad City and especially for Kukatpally. Dr JP has raised this issue several times in the Assembly and the efforts are on to bring forth the water. You can watch a clipping of his angry plea in March 2012 in this short YouTube video
One long pending pipeline issue in Moosapet has been laid with 70 lakhs and a further 40 lakhs have been sanctioned for sump construction, which will finish in March 2012. It will serve nearly 1 lakh people of Moosapet
Around 26 lakh worth of pipeline laid in Hasmathpet and a water tank was constructed with 90 lakhs. It now serves 50,000 people in Hasmathpet
Around 4 crores spent to eradicate water pollution and for maintenance works in the constituency
In the last 6 months, 1.20 crores of MLA funds were spent to fix miscellaneous water pollution issues
Another 50 lakhs of corporator funds have been allotted for pollution prevention and new connection works
Proposal of sump in Kukaptally 3rd phase and 6th phase to improve storage is on the cards
Power boosters have been installed in the Parvatnagar area to solve the problem of muncipal water not reaching higher places; another power booster and 70 borewells have been sanctioned and work is on
Drainage
Kukatpally constituency is divided into seven zones for sewage purposes. From each zone, total sewage comes to an STP for treatment. Post-treatment, the cleaned and filtered water joins an open nala or drain. This drastically reduces the breeding of mosquitoes and also removes bad odor from the water. MLA discretionary funds of 134 crores have been allocated and are being spent on the following Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) and the widening of nalas. We are sure that on completion of these ongoing works, it will make a noticeable difference to the citizens.
First STP completed at Khaja Gunta behind Metro with 12 crores. Drainage connecting this STP is pending
Second STP on IDL lake is 90% done with cost of 13 crores; this resolves the drainage problem in Balajinagar
2 STPs sanctioned in Bowin Cheruvu and Hasmatpet and work is on
2 STPs proposed for Old Bowanpalli Division in Mysamma Cheruvu and Moosapet
Remodelling of KKP to Begumpet nala (widening and retaining walls) at a cost of 34 crores is going on
75 crores sanctioned for nalas widening in Fathenagar area
Hasmatpet Nala - work to demolish encroachments is going on as the actual width is supposed be 12 mts but after encroachments, it is 2 mts width
Rs 3.2 crores of drainage works is going on in Zone 1 Seshadrinagar
